Soil Cement Projects

Gears, Inc and PEI have been involved in the following projects that utilized soil cement totaling over 1,000,000 tons of mixed soil cement since 1989.

Project: Highway 36 Hazardous Waste Treatment and Storage Facility, Last Chance, CO
Owner: Browning Ferris Industries
Engineer: MK Engineering
Construction: June 1988 - December 1989
  The project involved 100,000 sy CTB, 100,00 SY RCC for haul roads, access road, parking areas and processing areas. It also included approximately 15,000 cy of soil cement for a sewer lagoon and retention basins. 99% of the work was completed with GEARS, Inc.'s forces.
 
Project: Raw Water Reservoir and Sludge Lagoons
Owner: City of Corpus Christi, TX
Engineer: Black and Veatch
Prime Contractor: Midwest Construction Company
Construction: February - May 1989
  GEARS, Inc. mixed with their ARAN 280 B plant approximately 75,000 cy of soil cement for pond liners in 2.5 months.
 
Project: Red Deer Creek Watershed, Site 14
Location: Miami, TX
Engineer: US Corps of Engineers
Prime Contractor: Dixon Paving
Construction: May 1989
  GEARS, Inc. mixed approximately 3,500 cy of soil cement for bank protection.
 
Project: Stage II Little Snake Diversion Facilities
Owner: City of Cheyenne, WY
Engineer: Woodward Clyde Consulting Engineers
Construction: July 1989 - September 1990
  This project involved excavation and the processing of the excavated material for soil cement and the building of 32 dams with this material. The project was an extremely environmentally sensitive project in a high altitude remote area of Wyoming. 100% of the project was completed with GEARS, Inc.'s forces.
 
Project: N. First Avenue Sewer Improvements; Tucson, AZ

Construction: April 1990
  GEARS, Inc. mixed 36,000 tons of soil cement for stabilization.
 
Project: Westerly Creek Dam, Lowry AFB; Denver, CO
Owner: U.S. Air Force
Engineer: U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
Prime Contractor: Tarco, Inc.
Construction: October- November 1990
  The project consisted of mixing and placing approximately 7,500 cy of soil cement for a cut off trench and bank protection.

  Project consisted of mixing soil cement with various % of fly ash for utilization as pond liners

  The project consisted of mixing 8,600 tons of soil cement in 8 days for bank protection.
 
Project: West Elk Mine Retaining Wall

  Project consisted of mixing 10,000 tons of soil cement for emergency retaining wall.

  Project consisted of mixing and placing 5,000 tons of soil cement for erosion control structures.
